This was one of my favourite images from my winter camp in New England NP, Northern NSW. It demonstrates the extreme conditions on the tablelands as these exposed outcrops survive below freezing winters, winds, frost, poor soils, extreme heat and more. Looking over the ranges below where delicate Gondwana rainforests thrive in the protected valleys.
A relic of survival
The last rays of light tickle the timber of these tress as the sun fades below the range.
The harsh winds, extreme temperature and poor soils make the trees surviving here gnarly with character and strength. A contrast the to the Gondwana rainforest in the valleys below.

Spent the weekend camping and hiking in New England NP along the freezing highlands. Frozen mud, winter cascades and sub zero winds. Have four rolls of film to develop and process soon. Good news, no frost bite!
Equalled my PB flathead with Dad let weekend, landing an 83cm and a 70cm. Dad had several in the 60s and 70s. Fishing is the same as photography, it's all observation and timing with a thousand casts for the best catches.
Stalking the shallows.
Lock up our forests, cut it all down and burn the earth that remains. Only money for the corrupt will ever grow here again.
